History of the Stock Market

Learning Objectives:
1. Students will have knowledge of the history of stock markets.
2. Students will understand stock market related vocabulary.
Lesson Plan:
Students will visit the Stock Market ThinkQuest at: :http://library.thinkquest.org/3088/stockmarket/thebeginning.html
Students will be instructed to view a video on the History of Stock at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlU0Ncqa3s8.
They will also visit a history of the stock market timeline at: http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/history-of-the-stock-market--4
Students will write a 1 1/2 to 2 page summary of the the history of the stock market. Alternatively students can choose an event from the history of the stock market timeline and write their summary about that event. The summary must be typed in a word processor such as Microsoft Word and be written according to MLA or APA standards with appropriate references.
Assessment:
Students will use the rubric below to make sure they have satisfactorily completed their summary prior to submitting it to the instructor for grading.
