Stock Market Investing Lesson Plan

OVERVIEW:
In this three-part Internet enriched lesson plan, students will learn all about the history of the stock market, learn how stock trading works and its vocabulary, and get a virtual experience of stock trading. Students will use a variety of internet resources and tools to complete the lesson and associated assessment activities. This lesson is broken into three parts so that it can be completed across multiple class periods/days or all at once depending on time available. Since each activity is an individual task the lesson is also easily adaptable to a homework assignment or e-learning environment. The lesson plan is flexible enough to be structured as a group activity as well. The first two parts are designed to be completed in 2-3 hours. The third part is designed to be completed over a weeks time and the time requirement per day for that week is at full discretion of the instructor and/or student. This lesson is designed for high school students in grades 9 through 12 but can be adapted for use in a college or middles school setting as well.

Principles of Economics standard - 12.1 Students understand common economic terms and concepts and economic reasoning.
This lesson is also designed to meet the following NETS standards listed below:
1. Creativity and Innovation - Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

3. Research and Information Fluency - Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.
